2024A Christmas of Love: Celebrating with Mothers and Children on the Streets of Accra and Nigeria.
This Christmas season, AMTF is taking our mission of compassion to the streets of Accra, Ghana. On December 19th to 25th, 2024, we’ll be celebrating with disabled, mothers and children who face life’s toughest challenges daily, reminding them that they are not forgotten and that the spirit of Christmas is for everyone.
Here’s why this celebration means so much to us—and why we’ve chosen to share it with those who need it most.
1. Bringing Christmas to Those Who Need It Most
Christmas is a time of joy, family, and togetherness, but for many families on the streets of Accra, it can be a harsh reminder of what they lack. At AMTF, we believe no one should feel alone or neglected during this special season. By celebrating with mothers and children who live and work on the streets, we hope to bring a little light, love, and hope into their lives.
2. Celebrating Resilience and Strength
The mothers and children we will celebrate with are a testament to human resilience. These women work tirelessly to provide for their children despite immense hardship, and the children show incredible strength in the face of adversity. This celebration is an opportunity to honor their courage, showing them that they are seen, appreciated, and loved.
3. Creating Moments of Joy
For many, the festive season is about abundance, laughter, and giving. But for families on the streets, joy can feel out of reach. From December 19th to 22th, we aim to create moments of genuine happiness—a warm meal, a thoughtful gift, a smile shared, and time spent together. These moments may seem small, but their impact can be profound.
4. Highlighting the Importance of Community Service
Our decision to celebrate on the streets of Accra is rooted in the belief that Christmas is about community. By stepping out of our comfort zones and joining those in need where they are, we’re reinforcing the idea that community means showing up for one another, especially during times of celebration.
5. A Message of Hope for the Future
Through this event, we want to spread hope. It’s a message to mothers and children on the streets that they are not forgotten—that better days are possible, and that together, we can build a brighter future.
What we shared during this Christmas celebration will include:
- *Warm Meals: cooked jollof rice with eggs and sausages.
- Dental and General Hygiene Set: Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, and bathing soaps and Toilet rolls.
How You Can Help
If you’d like to be part of this celebration next year, there are many ways to contribute:
